Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 1 bag frozen raw beef sausage patties (about 24 ounces)
  • 1 jar cheese dip (15 ounces)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained (10 ounces)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Poor Man Patriot Bites: Directions

  1. If you want easier cleanup, spray the inside of the slow cooker lightly with nonstick spray. Try to pull apart the frozen sausage patties so they aren’t stuck together, then lay them in a flat, even layer inside the slow cooker.
  2. Spoon the jarred cheese dip evenly over the top of the sausage patties. Then add the drained diced tomatoes with green chilies, along with the garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
  3. Put the lid on the slow cooker. Cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours, or on HIGH for 2 to 3 hours, until the sausage is completely cooked and the whole mixture is hot and bubbly.
  4. Using a spoon or spatula, break the sausage patties apart into small bite-size pieces right in the slow cooker. Stir everything together well so the cheese and spices coat all the meat evenly.
  5. Serve the bites warm right from the slow cooker with toothpicks as a snack, or spoon them onto small buns or toast for a heartier meal.
