Marjoram Beef with Onion Gravy-Slow Cooker: One of my favorite slow cooker suppers is one that seems almost too easy to be good — and this Amish-style marjoram beef proves that easy can still taste amazing. You just put a beef chuck roll in the slow cooker with a handful of simple pantry items, and let it cook slowly until it gets soft and full of rich, herby flavor. It’s a simple meal that works great on a busy weeknight, but it’s also cozy enough to serve for a special Sunday dinner.

Serve this soft, juicy beef with mashed potatoes, buttery noodles, or warm rice so nothing goes to waste — you’ll want every drop of that tasty juice! It also pairs nicely with green beans, glazed carrots, or a fresh crunchy salad. Got leftovers? Pile the beef onto soft rolls with a spoonful of the juice for the best sandwiches ever.

This slow cooker beef is soft, juicy, and full of cozy herb flavor. With just four simple ingredients, it needs almost no work but tastes like a big, warm hug on a plate. Perfect for busy days or slow Sunday meals, it’s a easy recipe your whole family will ask for again and again.

Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 pounds boneless beef chuck roll
  • 1 tablespoon dried marjoram
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 cup beef broth

Marjoram Beef with Onion Gravy: Directions

  1. Set the boneless beef chuck roll gently into the bottom of your slow cooker, making sure it sits flat and even.
  2. Sprinkle the dried marjoram all over the top of the beef, spreading it out so every part gets some flavor. Then sprinkle the onion soup mix evenly over the top too.
  3. Slowly pour the beef broth around and over the meat, making sure some liquid pools at the bottom to help it cook and stay juicy.
  4. Put the lid on the slow cooker. Cook on low about8 to 10 hours, or on high for 5 -6 hrs, until the beef is super soft and falls apart easily when you poke it with a fork.
  5. Carefully lift the beef out and place it on a big plate or platter. Slice it or pull it apart into shreds using two forks. Spoon some of the warm cooking juices over the top right before you serve it, so it stays moist and full of flavor.
