This easy slow cooker beef roast turns simple pantry items into a warm, hearty meal. Blackstrap molasses adds rich, sweet flavor that blends perfectly with tender chuck roast as it cooks all day. With just five ingredients and very little prep work, this comforting dish is ideal for busy families craving a homemade dinner.

Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 3 to 3½ pounds beef chuck underblade roast
  • ½ cup blackstrap molasses
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Sweet Molasses Beef Roast: Directions

  1. Put the beef roast into your slow cooker and spread it out evenly on the bottom.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the molasses, onion soup mix, water, and apple cider vinegar. Stir well until everything is fully blended and smooth.
  3. Pour this mixture slowly over the top of the roast. Use a spoon to spread it around so the beef is coated on the top and sides.
  4. Put the lid on the slow cooker. Cook it on low heat for 8 -9 hours, or on high heat for 4½ to 5½ hours. The beef is done when it feels very soft and pulls apart easily with a fork.
  5. Carefully lift the roast out and place it on a serving plate. Let it rest for about 10 minutes so the juices settle.
  6. Slice or shred the beef into pieces. Spoon some of the warm cooking juice from the slow cooker over the top before serving.
