Ingredients
- 2 pounds beef sirloin, cut into strips (about 2 inches long)
- ¾ teaspoon garlic powder (or more, if you like)
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 beef bouillon cube
- ¼ cup hot water
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 2 large green bell peppers, chopped into pieces
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) stewed tomatoes, with the juice
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
Pepper Steak in a Crock Pot: Instructions
- Take your beef strips and sprinkle the garlic powder all over them, so every piece gets some flavor.
- Put the vegetable oil in a big frying pan and heat it up on medium heat.
- Add the beef strips to the hot pan. Cook them for about 5 minutes on each side, until they turn brown on the outside.
- Move the browned beef strips into your slow cooker.
- In a small bowl or cup, mix the bouillon cube with the hot water. Stir it until the cube completely dissolves.
- Add the cornstarch to that same bowl and stir again until it’s smooth, with no lumps.
- Pour this liquid mixture over the beef strips in the slow cooker.
- Add the chopped onion and green peppers on top.
- Pour in the can of stewed tomatoes, including the juice from the can.
- Add the soy sauce, sugar, and salt. Stir everything together gently so it’s all mixed nicely.
- Put the lid on the slow cooker.
- Cook on High for 3 to 4 hours, or if you want, cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours, until the beef is soft and tender.
- Once it’s done cooking, give it one more stir and serve it warm. It’s great with rice!
