These easy slow cooker chip burgers are a fun and simple dinner. Crushed sour cream and onion chips melt right into a creamy mushroom sauce, coating juicy beef patties with tasty onion flavor. It’s a cozy, retro comfort food that’s ready with almost no work at all.
These slow cooker 4-ingredient chip burgers are a great low-work dinner for busy weeknights when I still want something hot and filling on the table. The mix might sound a little strange at first, but crushed sour cream and onion chips melt into the beef and sauce while cooking. This adds a yummy onion taste and gives the meal a fun, old-fashioned comfort food feel — kind of like the easy slow cooker dinners many Midwestern families love to make again and again.
Put these burgers on soft hamburger buns with pickle slices, extra chips, coleslaw, corn on the cob, potato salad, or a crunchy green salad to make an easy summer meal. If you want even more comfort food flavor, add a slice of cheese to each burger and serve them with baked beans or oven fries.
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 4 frozen raw beef patties
- 1 bag (about 8 ounces) sour cream and onion chips, crushed into small pieces
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
Slow Cooker Chip Burgers: Directions
- If you want easier cleanup, spray the inside of the slow cooker lightly with nonstick spray. Lay the frozen beef patties flat in one even layer at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- In a small bowl, mix the condensed cream of mushroom soup with the milk. Stir until the mixture looks mostly smooth, then pour it evenly over the beef patties.
- Sprinkle the crushed sour cream and onion chips over the top of the patties. Try to spread the chips evenly so they cover as much of the meat as possible.
- Put the lid on the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours. The patties are done when they are fully cooked through and feel very tender. Before you serve, scoop some warm sauce from the bottom of the slow cooker and pour it over the burgers.
- If you’d like, serve the patties on hamburger buns. Add extra sauce on top, along with your favorite burger toppings, and enjoy warm.
