Slow Cooker Vintage Strawberry Cobbler: This warm strawberry cobbler is soft, sweet, and so easy to make. With just frozen strawberries, sugar, flour, and butter, your slow cooker turns simple things into a cozy old-fashioned treat. No oven needed! It’s perfect with ice cream and tastes just like a dessert from long ago.

This small slow cooker cobbler tastes like the yummy summer treat my mom used to make when a neighbor stopped by without warning. It starts by pouring in frozen strawberries, then adding just three more simple pantry items. After that, the slow cooker does all the work. There’s no messy pastry to make, no need to heat up the whole kitchen, and no fancy foods needed—just the warm, old-time taste of sweet berries and a soft, buttery, biscuit-like topping.

It’s the kind of treat you can start after lunch and have ready by the time dinner dishes are washed, just like we used to do on the farm back when strawberries were everywhere and nobody was in a rush.

Serve this cobbler warm, right from the slow cooker, spooned into small bowls so you get lots of juicy strawberries and soft golden topping in each bite. Adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a spoonful of whipped cream, or even a little cold cream on top makes it taste even more like a special Sunday dessert from long ago.

Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 1 (32-ounce) bag frozen strawberries (unsweetened, no need to thaw)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter, melted

Slow Cooker Vintage Strawberry Cobbler: Directions

  1. Rub a little butter or spray some nonstick spray inside your 4- to 6-quart slow cooker so the cobbler won’t stick to the bottom.
  2. Open the bag of frozen strawberries and pour them straight into the slow cooker. Spread them out evenly with a spoon. Don’t worry if you still see ice or frost on the berries—that’s totally fine.
  3. Sprinkle the sugar evenly over the top of the frozen strawberries. Do not mix it in—just let the sugar sit on top so it can slowly melt into the fruit while it cooks.
  4. In a medium mixing bowl, mix the flour and melted butter together using a fork. Stir until it turns into a thick, crumbly dough that sticks together when you press it. It should look a little rough and homemade, kind of like old-fashioned biscuit dough.
  5. Break the flour-and-butter mixture into small clumps with your fingers or a fork, then scatter it evenly over the sugared strawberries. It doesn’t need to cover every spot perfectly—small gaps will let the juicy berries bubble up through the topping while cooking.
  6. Put the lid on the slow cooker. Cook on HIGH for 2½ to 3 hours, or on LOW for 4 to 5 hours. The cobbler is ready when the strawberries are bubbly and soft, and the topping looks fully cooked and set in the middle. The topping will stay soft and spoonable, not crunchy like it would be from an oven.
  7. Once it’s done cooking, turn off the slow cooker. Leave the lid on and let the cobbler rest for about 15 to 20 minutes. This helps the juices thicken up a little and makes it easier to scoop out neat servings.
  8. Spoon the warm cobbler into bowls, making sure each serving gets plenty of strawberry syrup and topping. Serve it warm with a scoop of ice cream or some whipped cream if you like. Then enjoy this tasty homemade treat.
