Servings: 4 to 6
Ingredients
- 8 raw, skinless chicken drumsticks
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 cup apricot preserves
- 1 packet dry onion soup mix
Slow Cooker Poor Man’s Parents’ Day Treat: Directions
- Spray the inside of your slow cooker lightly with nonstick spray, if you want. Then lay the raw chicken drumsticks in one flat layer across the bottom of the slow cooker.
- In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the barbecue sauce, apricot preserves, and dry onion soup mix. Stir well until the sauce looks smooth and everything is blended together.
- Pour the sauce evenly over the chicken drumsticks. Gently turn each piece of chicken so it gets fully covered with the sauce on all sides.
- Put the lid on the slow cooker. Cook it on LOW flame about 5 to 6 hrs, or on HIGH heat for 3 to 4 hours. The chicken is done when it feels very soft and reaches a safe internal temperature of 165°F.
- Using tongs, carefully lift the cooked drumsticks out of the slow cooker and place them on a serving plate. Spoon some extra sauce from the slow cooker on top before serving warm.
